On hot summer days, outdoor umbrellas and awnings are common outdoor furnishings found in commercial plazas, parks, sales offices, villa communities, and other venues. As everyone knows, one of the key features of outdoor umbrellas is their exceptionally large canopy area—even the smallest umbrellas available on the market typically measure 2 meters wide and 2 meters high. Therefore, these umbrellas must be equipped with sturdy bases to ensure they remain stable and don't get blown over by the wind. So, what are the different types of outdoor umbrellas? And how should you choose the right outdoor umbrella? Fujifilm Outdoor Furniture has compiled a list of seven common types of outdoor umbrellas for your reference.
1. Center-column umbrellas can be further categorized into center-column aluminum umbrellas, center-column wooden umbrellas, hand-held umbrellas, and push-handle umbrellas. Since center-column umbrellas are typically placed in the center of a table, they take up relatively little space and are well-suited for small courtyards, balconies, and other similar spaces.
2. The banana umbrella gets its name from its umbrella shape, which closely resembles a banana. The banana umbrella is also classified as a side-column umbrella, offering a spacious area beneath the canopy where tables and chairs can be freely arranged. Its distinctive feature lies in its elegant design, making it particularly suitable for casual settings. It’s also commonly referred to as a side umbrella and has an even wider range of applications.
3. Rotating Umbrella (Roman Umbrella): The Roman umbrella is a highly functional outdoor sunshade that can rotate horizontally by 360 degrees or tilt vertically by 90 degrees. It represents an innovative and stylish way to enjoy outdoor leisure in the Chinese market. Under the umbrella, the space is open and spacious, allowing you to freely arrange outdoor furniture. The umbrella canopy can be rotated freely in any direction, enabling you to block sunlight exactly as you wish. Compared to other types of umbrellas, the Roman umbrella offers superior sun-shading performance and is much easier to operate—both the rotation and lifting of the canopy are controlled via a single handle, making it effortless and worry-free. The umbrella canopy can rotate horizontally by 360 degrees and move vertically by up to 90 degrees.
